Wellness & Vaccinations

Keeping your pet happy and healthy for as many years as possible is a goal that the team at Veterinary Healing Center of El Dorado Hills shares with you. It starts with a solid foundation of wellness care, and we believe that by placing a strong emphasis on this, we have the best chance of helping every animal with whom we work the opportunity at a long, healthy life.

Why is wellness care so important?

Wellness care involves routine visits to the vet regardless of health status. These checkups – typically once or twice a year – include a physical exam, health screenings, and preventative care. When we are able to stay on top of your pet’s ongoing health, we are better able to ward off illness and detect health concerns early, before they can progress and worsen. The result is a happier, healthier companion who will enjoy many years by your side.

What is involved in a wellness visit?

Similar to the annual checkups you have with your own doctor, wellness visits involve a number of things that help us to gather a clear and accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. We’ll examine your pet from nose to tail, looking for any signs of a potential medical concern. We’ll also use the information we gather in your pet’s health profile to measure and monitor any changes that occur over the years.

A typical wellness visit will include all of the following:

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • Individualized vaccination plan
  • Parasite testing and prevention
  • Nutrition and weight check

We may also recommend certain diagnostic tests, which can help us further evaluate your pet’s health. At various intervals during your pet’s lifetime, other topics will come up during wellness visits, such as spay/neuter procedures, microchipping, adult health maintenance, senior care, and more. Our wellness services are designed to support your pet through every life stage, ensuring that he or she will receive the most precise and effective care available with each visit.

Bonding time…

Perhaps one of the most important components of wellness care is the opportunity these regular visits provide for all of us to get to know one another better. We believe that a strong relationship based on respect and trust is what makes delivering exceptional care and service possible. The more we come to know you and understand your pet’s unique needs, the better level of care we will be able to deliver, year after year.

Let’s work together to provide your loved one with a lifetime of health and wellness.

The Veterinary Healing Center of Folsom and El Dorado Hills has been fantastic. They have been there through some of the most difficult decisions (letting our Oreo go) to just making sure our girls are healthy (annual checkups). They are loving to our Boston and Chihuahua even when the dogs are not willing to be touched. This is a very Caring place. If you want to go somewhere that is fabulous with your fur babies this is the place.

We started seeing Dr Cahoon and Dr McKerney because we needed alternative health care for our 12yr old mutt. We specifically chose Veterinary Healing Center for their knowledge and experience with Eastern Medicine applications. Our family is overjoyed for our pet and the pain relief he is now experiencing since starting his treatment plan just a few months ago. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The prices are comparable to other veterinary offices. I highly recommend their services for your pets needs.

Dr. McKerney has been treating my cockapoo, Waldo, with accutpunture for a couple of months now due to a spinal injry that resulted in paralization in the hind area. Waldo can now walk, a little wobbly. When recommended to me we did not know if Waldo would ever be able to walk again. Dr, McKerney is worth our drive (50miles) and time. She was also very thorough in reviewing all of Waldo's medical records prior to seeing him. Waldo is never expereinces any anxiety about going - that says a lot!
